Lighthouseproject for Germany: Concept for green mobility of FRS Elbfähre Glückstadt Wischhafen - Increase of ferry line capacity to 600 %
Just before the state elections in Schleswig-Holstein in May and in anticipation of the upcoming state elections in Lower Saxony in October this year, FRS Elbfähre Glückstadt Wischhafen presents its revised concept for green mobility in northern Germany. The lighthouse project for Germany plans to expand ferry line capacity to 600 % and reduce crossing time to 14 minutes in three steps - all with completely zero-emission services. The concept of FRS Elbfähre offers a real alternative to the fixed A20 crossing by providing sustainable and environmentally friendly ferry service without waiting times. For the implementation, however, the shipping company needs planning and investment security as well as support from politicians.
The Elbtunnel is not justificable for either environmental or financial reasons.
FRS Elbfähre has the know-how and can provide the necessary infrastructure and guarantee green mobility, but needs planning security. This is not guaranteed as long as the A20 is maintained.
