A Look Back: 2nd FRS Elbfähre Music Cruise

On May 28, 2026, the FRS Elbe ferry became a concert stage: Grossstadtgeflüster performed live on the Elbe—and all the tickets had long since sold out before the ship even set sail.

Grossstadtgeflüster, the Elbe, and an audience that had no choice but to join in. That’s how it goes when the stage is on the move.

Grossstadtgeflüster, the Berlin band that has been straddling the spectrum of good taste from both sides since 2003 and has made many, many, many people happy with their roughly 1,000 concerts, isn’t back—they’re still here.

With evergreens like “Fickt-Euch-Allee” or “Feierabend,” they’re constantly churning out hits that seem subcultural at first glance but then create a collective, grumbling good mood that transcends generations and genres.
There’s always a bit of rave in there, a bit of pop, a bit of punk, a bit of hip-hop, topped off with stylistic twists and turns, a whole lot of synths, and a latent penchant for eccentricity.

The common thread is the lyrics—which have been honored with the GEMA Music Authors’ Award—that traditionally weave together wordplay, irony, double rhymes, meta-levels, and punchlines, oscillating between philosophical depth and fairground calendar pages.

Grossstadtgeflüster’s anthems are dancing declarations of independence, head-nodding acts of liberation from societal or self-imposed pressures, and mosh-pit-style back-and-forths between megalomania and failure. But they never point fingers at others, let alone look down on them.
